Client request

Person County wanted a new Environmental Education & Community Center at Mayo Park that could support both outdoor education and community use. The county needed a modest‑sized, efficient building—about 3,800 square feet—with a flexible community room available for public rental, plus supporting amenities for park visitors.

The program called for a 1,672 sq. ft. community room (38′ x 44′) that could comfortably host groups of 150–200 people, with tables and chairs or theater‑style seating, and direct access to a warming kitchen, two decks, and a porch. In addition to the main facility, the county needed two separate restroom buildings to serve the broader park. The ask to Incline Construction: deliver a ground‑up facility that fit the site, budget, and schedule, and supported both environmental education and everyday community events.

The build

Incline served as the commercial general contractor for the Mayo Environmental Education & Community Center, delivering a complete ground‑up build of the 3,798 sq. ft. main facility along with two detached restroom buildings. The team coordinated site work, structure, and finishes to create a flexible, durable space that could handle everything from educational programs to public rentals.

The community room was built to the specified 1,672 sq. ft. footprint, with capacity for up to 229 people (typically 150 with tables and chairs, or 200 with chairs only), and direct access to the warming kitchen, decks, and porch to extend usable space outdoors. Throughout the project, Incline managed schedule, trade partners, and park operations to bring the center online on a roughly six‑month timeline, giving Person County a new hub for environmental education, recreation, and community gatherings at Mayo Park.
